Sacred Bones Records – October 28, 2016
Listening to Uniform is not for the faint of heart. It sounds like nightmares. It sounds like battles being waged. All the racket you hear is created by just two people, Michael Berden and Ben Greenberg. Hearing the title track from their latest release, Ghosthouse, you are instantly knocked back by the disorienting noise, Berden’s howls, and the incessant beat that sounds more like a gun than a drum machine.
On this release put out by Sacred Bones, Uniform blends elements of industrial, punk, electronic, and even metal. The 3 song EP finishes with a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe,” an early thrash treasure turned into a distorted storm. Uniform’s warped and unnerving production is the brainchild of two friends experimenting until they could achieve the appropriate sound to express themselves. The result is nothing short of expressive.
Uniform will be releasing their second LP next year.
